Spring Extravaganza at Tidal Basin
The Embassy organized a concert by the New York based guitarist, Salman Ahmad and the Pakistani singer Noora Lal at the Target Tidal Basin stage in front of the Jefferson Memorial on Sunday, 6th April, 2008. This was the first time that Pakistan participated in the Festival which draws over a million visitors every year. Mr Aslam Khan, the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy, told the audience that the Embassy's effort was to introduce Pakistani music and culture to the American people. Such events were invaluable avenues for promoting cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts. More than a thousand people enjoyed the virtuoso performance of Mr. Salman Ahmad on the guitar and the lilting tunes of Ms. Noora Lal's songs.
